Tokyo has been taken over by this giant robot - which is tasked with standing guard outside the country's newest tourist attraction.

The 18metre Gundam has taken pride of place in front of the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza complex - which houses the theme park of the animation series bearing the same name.

And weighing in at 35tonnes, it's a good job it has been nailed to the ground - because it would be likely to pack a serious King Kong style punch if it was ever let loose on the city.
