Let's face it, without the ability to fly, see through walls, or shoot lasers from your eyeballs, your chances of becoming a real-life superhero are pretty slim. That is, unless you got your hands on the BodyGuard, an armored glove and arm covering that not only protects against hand-to-hand assaults, but can also deliver a stunning shock to would-be assailants. The armored covering is designed for use by law enforcement and has the potential to become standard issue gear.

Is this a squadron of UFOs flying over California?
The Internet is abuzz over an alleged UFO sighting in the night sky over Oakland, California.
Three fast-moving dots of light can be seen travelling close together in a video posted on YouTube by a KevinMC360.
The 'UFO squadron' shows the three lights in a triangular pattern spotted on May 26.

Pentagon Looks to Double Its Unmanned Air Force
Think the U.S. military has a lot of drones now? Just you wait. The Pentagon has just released its 30-year plan for buying and developing warplanes. And in a development that should come as no surprise, the future the military anticipates for its Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps air fleets — together numbering more than 5,500 warplanes — is more robotic than ever.
The Congressionally mandated Aircraft Procurement Plan 2012-2041 is, of course, filled with conjecture. Any number of factors — fiscal, strategic, industrial or technological — could change unexpectedly, sending ripples through the Pentagon’s carefully-laid plans, currently projected to cost around $25 billion per year.
But based on current tech trends (everything always gets more expensive), anticipated (that is to say, flat) budgets and projected threats (China and terrorists, as usual), the military believes it can make do for the next three decades with air fleets roughly the same size as today’s — with just one big exception. The robot air force will double in just the next nine years.

One Brain, Hundreds of Eyes: Darpa Plots Manhunt Master Controller
Thought military tracking technology couldn’t get any creepier? Hold onto your tinfoil hats and hide behind the nearest curtain because the next generation of manhunting gear just took another step closer to reality.
The Pentagon’s bleeding-edge research shop, Darpa, announced this week that it awarded a $14 million contract to defense contractor SAIC to build Insight, its system-of-systems effort to mashup snooping sensors that’ll find human prey on the battlefield.
Darpa has developed loads of sensors and spying gear: everything from from the 1.8-gigapixel Argus camera to the Vehicle and Dismount Exploitation Radar (given the wonderful acronym, “Vader”) that pinpoints humans, cars and trucks from a distance. But getting all these systems to mesh together so that your average grunt can form a picture clear enough to track a high value terrorist or insurgent in real time is tricky, to say the least. It’s a classic problem in intelligence work: too much information and too much trouble connecting the dots. The result is “information overload” in general, and “information underload” on specific targets.

Bionic eye that conquers blindness caused by retinal disease gets official approval
An artificial retina that can restore some vision to people blinded by a rare genetic disease has been given the official go-ahead after successful trials.
European regulators have approved the development after 30 patients were tested - ten of whom were from Britain.
Scientists say it marks a major step forward in bionic eye technology as it proves electronic implants can be used to restore sight.
Christian psychotherapist who tried to cure gay man faces being struck off
Lesley Pilkington, 60, faces being struck off from the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy after it came down on the side of her client, Patrick Strudwick.
Mr Strudwick approached Mrs Pilkington, a practitioner of reparative therapy, at a Christian conference on therapy for homosexuality and pretended that he wanted treatment to help him overcome his same-sex attractions.
He was in fact a gay journalist working undercover.
Mrs Pilkington and Mr Strudwick had two therapy sessions together, during which Mr Strudwick secretly recorded their conversations.
He then used the material gathered during the sessions to make a formal complaint against Mrs Pilkington to the BACP, the professional body for counsellors."
Algerian Christian receives five-year prison sentence for blasphemy
The charges were brought against him after he shared his faith with a neighbour. The neighbour accused him of proselytising and making defamatory statements against the prophet Muhammad.
The court ruling came just days after authorities forced the permanent closure of seven Protestant churches in the province of Bejaia.
Krimo was sentenced under Article 144 bis 2 of the Algerian Penal Code which makes it a criminal offence to 'insult the prophet' or 'denigrate the creed and precepts of Islam'.
According to ICC, the husband and father has 10 days to appeal the sentence.
Aidan Clay, ICC Regional Manager for the Middle East, said: 'Algerian Christians have been under attack in recent weeks as laws have been increasingly enforced to discriminate against them.
'While Algeria professes that it upholds religious freedom, it also embraces a blasphemy law that, by its very nature, can be used to prosecute anyone who does not adhere to the religion of Islam."

20 Questions To Ask Anyone Foolish Enough To Believe The Economic Crisis Is Over
The scientists who really can read your mind: Research finds how words are formed in the brain
Mind-reader: Researchers have found the signals the brain gives off as speech is formed - and it is hope that this could lead to scientists being able to translate thoughts into words
Scientists have discovered a way to watch words form in the human brain in a breakthrough that could one day allow those with severe disabilities to 'speak'.
The researchers have found a way to peer into the deepest recesses of the brain in order to watch words forming.
Using electrodes they found the area of the brain that is involved in creating the 40 or so sounds that form the English language.
They then discovered that each of these sounds has its own signal which they believe could eventually allow a computer programme to read what people want to say by the power of their thoughts.
The mind-reading research was undertaken by a team from the Centre for Innovation in Neuroscience and Technology at the University of Washington.
Led by its director, Eric Leuthardt, they studied four people who suffered from severe epilepsy who each had 64 electrodes implanted into their heads.
The original reason for this was an attempt to try to find the cause of their epilepsy but Leuthardt also monitored the areas of the brain where speech is formed.
'Endeavour' Astronauts on Extraterrestrial Life -- "We'll find something out there."
The human race will find life elsewhere in the Universe as it pushes ahead with space exploration, reported astronauts of the space shuttle Endeavour. The US space shuttle Endeavour prepares today to undock from the International Space Station and jet back to Earth, wrapping up its final journey before entering retirement, NASA said.
"If we push back boundaries far enough, I'm sure eventually we'll find something out there," said Mike Foreman, a mission specialist on the Endeavour, "Maybe not as evolved as we are, but it's hard to believe that there is not life somewhere else in this great Universe," he added.

Planning a sojourn in the northeastern United States? You could soon be taking part in a novel security programme that can supposedly 'sense' whether you are planning to commit a crime.
Future Attribute Screening Technology (FAST), a US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) programme designed to spot people who are intending to commit a terrorist act, has in the past few months completed its first round of field tests at an undisclosed location in the northeast, Nature has learned.
Like a lie detector, FAST measures a variety of physiological indicators, ranging from heart rate to the steadiness of a person's gaze, to judge a subject's state of mind. But there are major differences from the polygraph. FAST relies on non-contact sensors, so it can measure indicators as someone walks through a corridor at an airport, and it does not depend on active questioning of the subject.

UN warns of food riots in developing world as drought pushes up prices
European dry spell and commodities speculation combine to push up average cereal costs by 71% to record levels

Food prices are expected to hit new highs in the coming weeks, tightening the squeeze on UK households and potentially triggering further unrest in developing countries unless there is heavy rainfall across drought-affected Europe, the United Nations has warned.
The average global price of cereals jumped by 71% to a new record in the year to April, more than three times higher than a decade ago, according to latest UN figures, prompting its Food and Agriculture Organisation to warn that Europe faces a pivotal few weeks.
With the dry spell forecast to continue for several weeks across Europe, Abdolreza Abbassian, senior grains economist at the FAO, said: "Europe is entering a very critical month. We can't do without rain any more. If the current situation continues prices will respond very aggressively."
"Our fear is that we still haven't seen the worst of food inflation in vulnerable countries and that could be coming. One way or another, rising food prices bring hardship on their people and you can't rule out the possibility of further food riots. A lot depends on the next few weeks and it's impossible to predict how Mother Nature will behave," Abbassian added.

UFO sightings warn of alien invasion, states Stephen Hawking who fears SETI’s search
STONEFIELD BEACH, Ore. – The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) is the collective name for a search for intelligent extraterrestrial life, but famed British scientist Stephen Hawking is warning that the SETI efforts to actively “contact possible intelligent life out there is way too risky and dangerous,” states the new book “First Contact” that also notes how Hawking is convinced “that other higher life forms do exist in the galaxies and would more likely raid Earth for its resources and move on.”

Will Comet Elenin cause major earthquakes as it approaches Earth?
Much of the evidence for Elenin being a large planetary body has been centered on conspiracy theories related to a government cover-up of an incoming brown dwarf star given the name Planet X. Rather than mere conjecture by conspiracy theorists, Planet X was first reported by the Washington Post and New York Times in two articles that appeared in 1983.

When Faith In U.S. Dollars And U.S. Debt Is Dead The Game Is Over – And That Day Is Closer Than You May Think
A day is coming when the rest of the world will decide that it no longer has faith in U.S. dollars or in U.S. debt. When that day arrives, the game will be over. Traditionally, two of the biggest things that the U.S. economy has had going for it were the U.S. dollar and U.S. Treasuries. The U.S. dollar has been the default reserve currency of the world for decades.
All over the globe it was seen as a strong, stable currency that was desirable for international trade. U.S. government debt has long been considered the “safest debt” in the entire world. Whenever there was a major crisis, investors would flock to U.S. Treasuries because they were considered a rock. Sadly, all of this is now changing. Today the rest of the world is losing faith in the U.S. financial system. In fact, even the United Nations is now warning of the collapse of the dollar. But if the U.S. dollar and U.S. Treasuries collapse, that will be an absolute nightmare for the U.S. economy. If the rest of the world does not want our dollars someday, then what are we going to give them in exchange for all of the oil and all of the cheap imported goods they send us? If the rest of the world does not want our debt someday, then how in the world are we going to be able to continue to consume far, far more wealth than we produce?
Why Is The Economy So Bad?
Millions of Americans have lost their homes, tens of millions of Americans can't find a decent job and 44 million Americans are on food stamps. This is causing an increasing number of Americans to ask this question: "Why is the economy so bad?" There are some Americans that are old enough to remember the Great Depression, but the vast majority of us have never known hard times. All our lives we were told that America was the greatest economy on the planet and that we would always experience endless prosperity in this nation. That was easy to believe because even though we had a recession once in a while, things always bounced back and got even better than ever. But now something seems different. The current economic downturn began back in 2007 and yet here we are in 2011 and there seems to be no end in sight for this economic crisis. So what in the world is going on? Can anyone explain why the economy is so bad?
The following are some of the kinds of questions that the American people are asking about the economy these days....

UFO sightings in Wales
(CBS News) - Wales is about the size of New Jersey, and lies just a couple of hundred miles west of here.
The Welsh people cherish ancient traditions - not all of them wholesome. It is said there were once human sacrifices performed there by the Druids - sun-worshipping pagan priests of old.
These days Wales has its own government, its own language and its own Prince - Charles, Prince of Wales, father of Prince William, back now as a search and rescue helicopter pilot in Wales after that much publicised Royal wedding.
The intense international interest in William and Kate means there will be an army of press photographers on Welsh soil for the forseeable future. Perhaps they should be scanning the skies instead.
For Wales has now been revealed as the place in Britain where you are most likely to see an Unidentified Flying Object.

Russian military spooked by UFO
A news report broadcast by Gubernia TV in Russia about a multiple-witness sighting of a large UFO—posted on YouTube on May 12—has elicited considerable attention in several ufological news forums, particularly in Italy, but little else in the Western mainstream media. The case occurred in the village of Lesopilniy in the Khabarovsk region in Russia’s Far East and it involved dozens of witnesses, including soldiers at a military base nearby who fired artillery shells at the UFO without harming it.

Dangerous Toxins From Genetically Modified Plants Found in Women and Fetuses
Dangerous Toxins From Genetically Modified Plants Found in Women and Fetuses
When U.S. regulators approved Monsanto's genetically modified "Bt" corn, they knew it would add a deadly poison into our food supply. That's what it was designed to do. The corn's DNA is equipped with a gene from soil bacteria called Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) that produces the Bt-toxin. It's a pesticide; it breaks open the stomach of certain insects and kills them.
But Monsanto and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) swore up and down that it was only insects that would be hurt. The Bt-toxin, they claimed, would be completely destroyed in the human digestive system and not have any impact on all of us trusting corn-eating consumers.
Oops. A study just proved them wrong.
Disbelieving Free Will Makes Brain Less Free
If people are told that free will doesn’t exist, their brains might follow suit.
A test of people who read passages discrediting the notion of free will found an immediate decrease in brain activity related to voluntary action. The findings are just one data point in ongoing scientific investigation of a millennia-old philosophical conundrum, but they raise an intriguing possibility.
“Our results indicate that beliefs about free will can change brain processes related to a very basic motor level,” wrote researchers led by psychologist Davide Rigoni of Italy’s University of Padova in a study published in May’s Psychological Science.

VA backs off, will let pastor say 'Jesus Christ'
HOUSTON — The U.S. Veterans Affairs Department will allow a pastor to utter the name Jesus Christ in a Memorial Day invocation at Houston National Cemetery after he sued the agency, accusing it of censorship.
The agency's attorney informed U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes of the decision on Friday.
Hughes had warned the agency Thursday it could not "gag citizens," saying free expression includes everything from "Abraham Lincoln's speeches to Charlie Sheen's rants."
The Houston Chronicle reports Rev. Scott Rainey has invoked Jesus Christ's name in invocations at the cemetery during the last two Memorial Day services.
Last month, cemetery officials directed him to make the prayer "inclusive of all beliefs" and "non-denominational."
Rainey sued to keep the VA from censoring his prayer.

Extraterrestrial Psychosis from Creationism to Evolutionism: Who are we as human beings?
Dr. John Singh
"Planet X" Orbit graphic. Reference: Galaxymaine.com
Was the explanations for our origins as human beings in the form of "Creation Theory" and 'Evolution', spread into our civilizations by the operatives of Manipulative Extraterrestrials? Gerry Zeitlin suggests that Creation Theory and 'Human Evolution' are not opposing views. Rather, Zeitlin suggests that Creation Theory and Human Evolution were spread through the use of operatives of the Manipulative Extraterrestrials, in order to reinforce one another. Zeitlin is a co-founder of Open SETI, which suggests that elites have sought to cover-up rather than share their knowledge about various Extraterrestrial races.
Ha ha.. that is very funny... There is no such thing as ETs... ". Perhaps you might also add: "Well, maybe there are aliens somewhere in the universe.. but if they had been on Earth, I would know about it." Perhaps you know everything there is to know. Perhaps you might have also been among those people who thought that Galieo's testimony, that the Earth was round and orbited around the sun, was also the ranting of a madman or some sort equivalent of a "conspiracy theorists" of the time.
As humans, we often like to quickly dismiss "stories" of alien contact with human throughout history and even into present, because we, as humans, have been conditioned to accept certain "truths" of our origins. As human beings we have been socialized to accept one of two explanations of our origins as human beings. The two explanations is that we were either created by generally benevolent God(s) or have "evolved" from a primitive ape-like state.
As humans, modern capitalist society has conditioned us to govern ourselves with at least one of these psychological templates. So, when someone or a group presents us with "stories" of aliens which do not have an official part of our conception on ourselves as a species, such detail becomes quickly discarded as "garbage information".

The volcanic GLASS cloud: How tiny shards created by heat of Iceland eruption have 'rained' on Scotland
Scientists have released photographs of what they believe are volcanic glass particles from Iceland which fell on Scotland this week.
The samples were taken from a car windscreen in Aberdeen and analysed at the city's James Hutton Institute.
The images of the tiny particles were taken using a scanning electron microscope.
Sharp: One of the fragments of glass that rained on Aberdeen is shown under a microscope
Scientists said it was ‘highly likely’ the glass particles, which are part of the ash constituents, came from the Grimsvotn volcano which started erupting on Saturday.

NASA asteroid mission could explain how life began (and how ours might end)
There's a slight chance that the Earth could get hit by an asteroid in about 170 years, but don't you worry -- NASA's all over it. This week, the agency announced a new mouthful of a mission known as Origins-Spectral Interpretation-Resource Identification-Security-Regolith Explorer, or OSIRIS-REx, for short. The $800 million initiative, part of NASA's New Frontiers Program, will send a spacecraft to link up with 1999 RQ36 -- a nearby asteroid that's likely rich in carbon and other organic molecules that could explain how life forms originated. After about four years of space travel, the craft should get close enough to map the asteroid's surface, before using its robotic arm to extract at least two ounces of material and return it to Earth by 2023. Scientists will also pay close attention to something known as the Yarkovsky effect, which determines how an asteroid's path changes as it absorbs and emits energy from the sun. OSIRIS-REx will attempt to measure this affect for the first time, perhaps allowing NASA to predict the trajectories of potentially hazardous asteroids -- including the RQ36. The 1,900-foot wide rock is expected to approach Earth by the year 2182 and, according to recent estimates, there's a one in a thousand chance that it could actually strike our planet. Now if you excuse us, we have to go prepare a bunker for our great-great-grandchildren…

Vivid Ads Give You False Memories That You Swear Are Real
Remember that time you were drinking Coke with Ronald McDonald and Tony the Tiger while the Energizer Bunny danced in your living room? Yeah, that never happened….but that doesn’t mean you can’t remember it happening. A new study published in the Journal of Consumer Research reveals that not only do vivid ads give us false memories related to what we’re shown in marketing images, but we are remarkably confident that those memories are true. Long after you watch a commercial picturing a happy family enjoying Nestle cookies around a fire, or laughing on a beach, you may begin to remember those events not as ads, but as real memories of your life. This ‘false experience effect’ may have profound effects not only on our purchasing habits, but on the very way we perceive ourselves and reality. You thought our memories were our own? Silly reader, advertising tricks are screwing with your kids.

Experts: Mega-Quakes Can Create Pole Shifts
Mega-thrust earthquakes like the ones that recently struck Chile and the Fukushima region of Northern Japan, can cause the magnetic field to flip. If a quake is strong enough there is evidence it may even set off a geological pole shift tossing the Earth off its current axis and killing billions of people within a matter of minutes.
This the grim picture painted by decades of research and evidence strewn from the peaks of the Andes to the volcanic shards lying off the Pacific islands of Hawaii.
Enormous earthquakes cause enormous damage. The threat is real and growing, as world renown physicist and popular science author, Dr.Michio Kaku , recently explained on ABC's "Good Morning America."
According to Dr. Kaku, some of the world's most important and populated cities could be swept away in the blink of an eye. "In our life time, we could very well see one of these cities destroyed," Kaku claimed. "Los Angeles, San Francisco, Mexico City, Tehran, and Tokyo."
It is actually Mankind and not nature that has placed up to one billion people at risk. "We are creating mega cities where there used to be fishing villages," the scientist explained.
Mega quakes, once thought to be rare events, are beginning to occur with increasing frequency. The reasons are several and among them are the changes in the sun, the region of unknown space the solar system has entered, the fluctuating changes in the geomagnetic field, and the disturbing changes in the Earth's spinning core that some scientists are racing to understand.
Mega quakes not only change the region they occur in, but the entire planet as well. "Look at the Chilean earthquake," Kaku said. "You realize it was so big it actually rocked the planet Earth. The axis of the earth shifted three inches as a result of that 8.8 earthquake. The day is no longer 24 hours; it's been shortened by one micro-second. That's how big that earthquake was."
The mega-quake that struck Japan was bigger, more powerful, and more destructive.
Mega quakes and supervolcanoes
Yet some geologists warn that larger quakes than those can and will happen. They point to the largest known quake in the North American geological record. The quake was a theoretical 12 magnitude. That's theoretical because no one has ever experienced a quake like that in recorded history. That superquake hit what is now Manhattan Island about 20,000 years ago. It changed the configuration of northern North America, the level of the Atlantic Ocean, and the entire eastern continental shelf.
Yellowstone supervolcano could destroy the USA
Larger, more deadly quakes accompanied the mega-eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano that destroyed more than one-third of what's now the United States. If another eruption of that magnitude happened today for all intents and purposes the US would cease to exist. Burning volcanic ash would cover more than half the country and be as deep as 12 feet as far as western Iowa.
Yellowstone supervolcano 'footprint of death'
Quakes can strike that are so large many geologists call them planet killers—yet that's an exaggeration. The Earth would still exist, only much of humanity would disappear.
Such mega quakes in the past have created the mighty Andes mountain range in a mere matter of days. Seashells and the fossils of sea creatures found on the bottom of oceans have been found near the range's mountain peaks. *

Artificial Wombs Will Spawn New Freedoms
Eggs were first. Millions of years before mammals, eggs existed, their hard shells protecting the incubating embryo inside. Egg Mom wanders mobile, light in her anatomy—unlike her mammalian sister that waddles around, heavily crippled with the burden of her womb. Eggs were an evolutionary smart idea.

Super Typhoon Songda Projected To Pass Over Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant
So far the only good news to accompany the Fukushima catastrophe has been that for all the fallout, the radiation has been mostly contained due to Northwesterly winds which have been blowing any radioactivity mostly out and into the Pacific (coupled with relatively little rainfall), as well as the dispersion of irradiated cooling water which promptly enters the Pacific after which it is never heard of or seen again (there is at least a several year period before 3 eyed tuna fish feature prominently in restaurants across the country). This may be changing soon now that Super Typhoon Songda, which according to Weather Underground will form shortly as a Category 5 storm with 156+ mph winds, will take a northeasterly direction and 2 days later will pass right above Fukushima. The good news: by the time it passes over Fukushima, Songda will be merely a Tropical storm. The bad news: by the time it passes over Fukushima, Songda will be a Tropical storm. As the latest dispersion projection from ZAMG shows, over the next two days the I-131 plume will be covering all of the mainland.

'Sea Monster' Discovered Beneath Brooklyn Bridge
You might expect a cement-shoed mobster in the waters off New York -- but a sea monster?
Local newspapers and blogs have been consumed with the news that a "sea monster" has washed up at the foot of the famed Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. The seven-foot long beast, dubbed the East River Monster, was found on the Manhattan side of the bridge on May 21.
And was it ever ugly.
"It had the scales of a fish, body of a serpent, head of a pit bull and was the size of a large alligator," wrote Maureen O'Connor, a blogger on the Gawker website.
Theories ran the gamut from horse to alligator to Loch Ness beast -- or even a relative of the Montauk Monster.

Scientists Detect Earth-Equivalent Amount of Water Within the Moon
There is water inside the moon -- so much, in fact, that in some places it rivals the amount of water found within Earth.

One Step Closer to a Cash-less Society: MOBILE WALLET SET TO REPLACE CREDIT CARDS
Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey is hoping to pull another paradigm-altering product out of his hat. His company Square has developed a phone app that’s designed to take physical credit cards out of the purchasing experience. IPad, IPhone and Android users can use the app to select the store in which they find themselves. If the store has the corresponding app installed, then the cashier can select the customer's name and the total is automatically charged to the customer’s credit card on file. This app is currently available for free in the Apple and Google app stores.

All round the world: How tiny electrons are almost perfectly spherical NOT egg shaped
The elementary particles of atoms are almost a perfect sphere, a study has found.
Electrons, negatively-charged particles which orbit the nuclei, deviates from absolute roundness by less than less than 0.000000000000000000000000001cm.
This means that if it was magnified to the size of the solar system, it would still appear spherical to within the width of a human hair.
The X-Flies: Up close, the garden bugs who look like ALIENS but really do live on Earth
They look like monsters from another planet but these bizarre-looking bugs are actually living here on Earth.
Photographer Rundstedt Rovillos has trained his eye to spot the exotic creatures, found in Manila in the Philippines.
His incredible macro pictures show each species in breath-taking detail that would not be detected by the naked eye.
Cool dude: This insect, photographed by Rundstedt Rovillos in the Philippines, looks like an alien in sunglasses
Gardeners' universe: These weird-looking critters really were found on Earth
Mean: The red face and eyes of an exotic wasp species found in Manilla
The collection includes species of wasp, caterpillar and beetle that seem completely alien to the those that are found in a typical British back garden.
One caterpillar seems more like a dragon than a bug - with horn-like feelers protruding from his skull.
Another has a glacier-cherry like head while another appears to sport a trendy leopard-print skin.
Christians in the UK are being persecuted - People seem to be able to do whatever they like against Christianity, but not Islam, says one MP
Christian MP David Simpson has raised his concern over the treatment of Christians in the United Kingdom and around the world in a debate in the House of Commons this week.
The DUP politician told ministers that if they wanted to see instances of Christian persecution they need not go to other countries but “simply look to our own back door”.
“In the United Kingdom, the policy seems to be that people can do whatever they like against Christianity – criticise it or blaspheme the name of Christ – as long as they do not insult Islam,” he said.
“It is sad because this country is based on civil and religious liberty for all. When Queen Victoria was on the throne, the secret behind England’s greatness was its open scriptures and open Bible.
“Today, that policy is being hammered into the ground, and that concerns me greatly for the years and months that lie ahead.”

Mind Reader Company Valued At $200+ Million In New Funding Round
A new brain recording device is changing the way scientists study the brain. Its miniature size and innovative recording capabilities allow data to be transmitted directly to a computer while we’re asleep at home. Understanding brain activity during sleep, researchers think, may unlock the secrets to understanding a range of neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia and depression. The new device is such a significant improvement over existing technologies that it has attracted private funding that raises the company valuation to $250 million–from a technology pioneer who wishes to remain anonymous.
Scientists transform skin cells directly into neurons
It’s difficult for people to change their identities or careers, but it can be done. We don’t have to be stuck with one particular fate; with a bit of effort, we can become different people. The same is true for the cells that we’re made of. They come in different types, from brain cells to skin cells to muscle cells. Stem cells can produce all of these types, but once a cell commit to a particular role, it’s largely stuck there.
But not always. Scientists can convert one type of cell into another with the right cocktail of molecules – a process known as transdifferentiation. It’s a cellular makeover. The hope is that this technique will allow doctors to grow bespoke tissues and organs. If someone suffers from a disease that destroys their nervous system, like Alzheimer’s, you could theoretically take their skin cells, and transform them into a fresh supply of genetically identical neurons.

The six-block scar: Amazing satellite photos pinpoint devastation of Joplin, the town wiped off map by deadliest tornado in modern times
Following the devastating tornado which ripped though Joplin at the weekend, these satellite images show the extent of the damage.
After and before aerial photos show the shocking extent of the damage caused by the twister in the Missouri city - this image show a six-block path of destruction.
At least 125 people were killed by the twister on Sunday, which authorities say is the deadliest single tornado in America since modern record-keeping began over 60 years ago.
UFOs And The Military Industrial Complex
In the years immediately following World War II, the U.S. military discovered that UFOs were a serious national defense issue.
To secretly investigate this mysterious phenomenon an ad hoc military bureau was formed by President Harry Truman named "Majestic-12" or "MJ-12".Over the years since its inception this covert agency has likely gained more autonomous power than the nation it was commissioned to serve.
In 1961 President Dwight Eisenhower warned against the potentially dangerous influence of the "Military-Industrial-Complex".
Ben Rich Lockheed Skunk Works director had admitted in his Deathbed Confession that Extraterrestrial UFO visitors are real and the U.S. Military travel among stars. Recently releases secret memo HERE reveals Kennedy had demanded UFO files before his death.
The material in down video essay explores the evolution of this unique aspect of our National government and how it effects the lives of all Americans to this day.

Scientists unveil most complete EVER map of the universe that extends to 380 million light years away
The most complete 3D map of the local universe has been unveiled by British astronomers.
The 2MASS Redshift Survey (2MRS) from the University of Portsmouth extends to a distance of 380 million light years and has taken 10 years to complete.
It extends closer than previous surveys to the galactic plane - a region that is generally obscured by dust.
Massive scale: The Redshift Survey has been described as the most complete 3D map of the local universe
The survey has mapped in detail areas previously hidden behind the Milky Way to better understand the impact they have on its motion in relation to the rest of the universe.
Karen Masters from the University of Portsmouth presented the map in a press conference at the 218th meeting of the American Astronomical Society in the Harvard-Smithsonian Centre for Astrophysics (CfA) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She said: 'The 2MASS Redshift Survey is a wonderfully complete new look at the local universe - particularly near the galactic plane.
'A galaxy's light is 'redshifted' or stretched to longer wavelengths by the expansion of the universe. The farther the galaxy, the greater its redshift, so redshift measurements yield galaxy distances.
Unseen for 4,500 years: Pyramid finally reveals its hidden secrets as robot captures images of ancient markings
The last great mystery of the pyramids could be closer to being found thanks to a robot built in Leeds.
Images captured by a new 'micro snake' camera travelling deep within the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt reveal small hieroglyphs written in red paint on the floor of a small, hidden chamber.
Egyptologists believe that if deciphered the markings could unlock the secrets of why tunnels, doors and secret chambers were built within pyramids such as this one.
There’s a Secret Patriot Act, Senator Says
You may think you understand how the Patriot Act allows the government to spy on its citizens. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) says it’s worse than you’ve heard.
Congress is set to reauthorize three controversial provisions of the surveillance law as early as Thursday. But Wyden says that what Congress will renew is a mere fig leaf for a far broader legal interpretation of the Patriot Act that the government keeps to itself — entirely in secret. Worse, there are hints that the government uses this secret interpretation to gather what one Patriot-watcher calls a “dragnet” for massive amounts of information on private citizens; the government portrays its data-collection efforts much differently.

DOES QUANTUM THEORY EXPLAIN CONSCIOUSNESS?
Consciousness: How do you go about explaining that? Indeed, many scientists are currently studying what happens in the brain and how the mind relates to the outside world, but quantifying what gives us consciousness is proving to be a rather tough nut to crack.

NASA to Launch Mission to Asteroid in 2016 --Seeking Organic Molecules that may have Seeded Life on Earth
NASA has selected the University of Arizona to lead a sample-return mission to an asteroid. The team is led by Michael Drake, director of the the UA's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. OSIRIS-REx will rendezvous with asteroid 1999 RQ36, extend a sample collecting device and return at least 60 grams (a little over 2 ounces) of pristine material to Earth for analysis.
"It will return samples of pristine organic material that scientists think might have seeded the sterile early Earth with the building blocks that led to life. Such samples do not currently exist on Earth. OSIRIS-REx will also provide the knowledge that will guide humanity in deflecting any future asteroid that could collide with Earth, allowing humanity to avoid the fate of the dinosaurs."
Gigantic Star 150 Times Sun Found in Adjacent Galaxy
Gigantic Star 150 Times Sun Found in Adjacent Galaxy
A super massive, isolated star has been discovered in the Large Magellanic Cloud, adjacent to the Milky Way. The star, VFTS 682, is one of the more massive stars ever known --about 150 times the mass of the Sun. Astronomers are baffled how such a massive star could form in its current isolated position. VFTS 682 is an exciting object that challenges theories of massive star formation.
The international team of astronomers who are publishing this discovery is involved in a large survey of the Tarantula Nebula in the LMC --a well-known stellar nursery. Their survey, carried out with the FLAMES instrument at the ESO/VLT, is meant to study massive stars there.

How the Japanese plan to turn the moon into a mirrorball: All of Earth's energy 'to be supplied by lunar ring of solar panels'
It sounds like something out of science fiction - a huge swathe of the moon covered with solar panels to beam captured energy back to Earth.
But plans to turn the moon into a gigantic mirrorball manned by robots to provide all the Earth's energy came a step closer to reality today when they were unveiled by Japanese scientists.
The ambitious project would result in 13,000 terawatts of continuous solar energy being transmitted back to receiving stations on Earth, either by laser or microwave.
Supplying the Earth with power: The ambitious plans would result in robot vehicles being used to construct the huge strip of panels to capture solar energy
The full extent of India's 'gendercide'
Some call it India's "gendercide". In the past three decades up to 12 million unborn girls have been deliberately aborted by Indian parents determined to ensure they have a male heir.
Once, parents desperate for a son achieved the same end by infanticide. But modern medical technology, and the complicity of the medical establishment, has sanitised the process and made it more socially acceptable.
The systematic elimination of female foetuses in the world's biggest democracy is widening the gap between girls and boys and storing up social problems for the future. In some towns there is already a shortage of brides and there are fears the growing gender imbalance will worsen attitudes to women.

The rise of real meat factories
I’ve been taking about ‘meat things’ for nearly 10 years, so I was really excited by the new Michael Specter piece in The New Yorker about artificially grown meat, Test-tube Burgers. You can’t read most of it online, so I want to copy this small section:
…One study, completed last year by researchers at Oxford and the University of Amsterdam, reported that the production of cultured meat could consume roughly half the energy and occupy just two percent of the land now devoted to the world’s meat industry….
I say real factories because we are all aware I assume by this point of the nature of ‘factory farming’. But mass production of animal stock is an ad hoc kludge. Domesticated animals have been bred for meat production, but they remain organisms with all the range of activities and ends which the term ‘organism’ entails. Raising raw tissue in cultures may seem ‘yucky,’ a point Specter covers in assessing the reaction of some environmentalists and animal-rights activists who don’t seem as excited by the shift from conventional livestock raising to growing tissue as one would expect if they ran the numbers, but it is probably inevitable if it is feasible. The article makes the point that most of the focus on this area seems to be in the Netherlands, but thank god the Chinese are paying attention to this!

Galactic images on a budget: Rookie photographer takes stunning shots of the Milky Way using a simple digital camera
Taken from the surface of the Earth using a digital camera, these beautiful images show the Milky Way in all its awe-inspiring glory.
Created by up-and-coming photographer Bret Webster, they are all the more remarkable because he has been taking pictures for only three years.
But since one of them - called Balanced - appeared in National Geographic magazine, his life has taken a new direction.
Though his photos of our galaxy look more like something that would be captured by sophisticated equipment aboard the Hubble Space Telescope, Mr Webster takes them using the simple digital camera his wife gave him and a tripod.
An autumn evening over a collection of hoodoos in Goblin Valley National Park in Green River, Utah. Haze in the air adds colour to the Milky Way near the horizon
Using the night skies of the national parks of his home state of Utah in the United States as his canvas, Mr Webster has created stunning images that highlight the relative insignificance of the Earth in the cosmos.
'I feel a deep affinity for the Utah desert and I have always been in awe when visiting the Arches National Park and Canyon Lands,'said the 51-year-old, who has worked for 27 years as a rocket engineer and solid-fuel propellant specialist for US defence firm Northrop Grumman.
He said his new career took off when he borrowed his wife's 'new Nikon camera three years ago and having been a return visitor to the national parks of Utah I know where some of the best spots are'.
'For me,' he added: 'the pictures that bring (together) the ancient American native rock paintings and the Milky Way are the most powerful.'
Some of the paintings that inspire him are believed to have been created by an ancient people called the Western Archaic Culture up to 8,000 years ago.
'In my pictures, I like to make it clear that the view when these paintings were made would have been similar 8,000 years before, and will be similar 8,000 years hence.
'Our existence is just part of this huge Milky Way.
Now working with a Canon 5D MK2 on a tripod pointed at the sky and using a 30-60 second exposure, his images rely on the quality of the camera equipment.
'Digital cameras have become so advanced that it is now possible to take these pictures from the surface of the Earth and use their sensors to capture thousands of stars in the night sky.
'Southern Utah is one of the darkest parts of the United States and the camera amplifies the light available from the Milky Way.
Spectacular: The Milky Way rises above the Landscape Arch on a cold November night after a storm
