The tiny beating heart grown from STEM CELLS - and scientists say other organs could be on the way

The tiny beating heart grown from STEM CELLS - and scientists say other organs could be on the way | Daily Mail Online: "Researchers have used stem cells to create a tiny, beating heart - and say it could revolutionise medicine.

The new hearts will allow new drugs to be tested, and give researchers a new insight into how the heart develops. The tiny heart pictured here even has a microchamber, and can 'beat' like a full sized heart. The center (red) shows heart muscle cells while the perimeter (green ring) shows a type of connective tissue that attaches to the surface and holds the microchamber to the culture dish.
