This is the most detailed image captured of the surface of Pluto yet. It was taken by New Horizons and sent back shortly before it started its final approach towards the dwarf planet. The image reveals incredible detail of craters, possible mountain ranges and icy plains on the surface of the distant world, some of which have earned unofficial names in honour of gods of the underworld from different cultures
