Flying robots set to cause a buzz in the art world by building a 20ft-high foam-brick tower

Traditional uses for robots tend to include building cars, carrying goods around factories and cleaning things – but now they are making their debut in the art world.

Swiss architects Gramazio & Kohler and robotics expert Raffaello d’Andrea are set to use a small fleet of flying robots to build a 20ft-high, 11ft-wide tower using 1,500 polystyrene bricks.

The machines, called quadcopters, will following a pre-set flight programme to erect the installation at the FRAC Centre in Orleans, France.
