In that passage of scripture, Christ compared the signs of His return to a woman experiencing the stages of labor in child birth. These prophetic signs were things like wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, disease outbreaks, famine, riots, freak weather, false teachers, and other signs. This is happening in what we call the real world."
