Life DID begin on Mars - then we all travelled to Earth on a meteorite: Element 'crucial to the origin of life would only have been available on the red planet'
An element believed to be crucial to the origin of life would only have been available on the surface of Mars, it is claimed. Geochemist Professor Steven Benner argues that the 'seeds' of life probably arrived on Earth in meteorites blasted off Mars by impacts or volcanic eruptions."

Is this the machine that will finally help us explore Venus's ravaged surface? Rover could sail its way across the planet carrying electronics that function at 450°C
Crushing pressures, powerful winds and acidic clouds have meant that any probes ever sent to Venus have only ever lasted a few hours.
Now Nasa is proposing a windsurfing rover that it claims could to take on Venus' severe environment by sailing across its surface.
The rover, dubbed the Zephyr, is designed to work at extremely low powers while carrying electronics that can function at a temperature of 450°C.
The rover, dubbed the Zephyr, is being proposed by Geoffrey Landis of the Glenn Research Center. It is designed to work at extremely low powers and only has two moving parts
It is being designed by Geoffrey Landis of the Glenn Research Center in Cleveland as part of Nasa’s Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) programme.
Venus is often labelled as Earth's twin due to its similar size, gravity and ‘terrestrial’ composition, which is largely made up of silicate rocks or metals.

Did the Romans invent nanotechnology? 1,600-year-old jade green goblet glows red because of silver and gold particles in the glass
A Roman goblet could be an 1,600-year-old example of nanotechnology, according to experts.
The mysterious Lycurgus Cup is made of dichroic glass and appears green when lit from the front and turns bright red when a light is shone on it from behind.
The chalice, which is on display at The British Museum, London, uses similar techniques to 'modern' nanotechnology - the manipulation of materials on an atomic and molecular scale - which scientists believe could be used for everything from diagnosing diseases to identifying bioharzards at airports.

After Micah sets the scene with an atmospheric opening for what is soon to follow, David gets right into the heart of the action. If you think that our otherworld visitors are all about “love and light,” forget it. They’re not."
