Happy fourth of July! Hubble Space Telescope captures spectacular cosmic fireworks display

Millions of Americans will commemorate their liberation from the British today with barbecues, carnivals and impressive firework displays.

Inspired by today's date and the celebrations due to be held, scientists from NASA have released a picture from the Hubble Space Telescope of a spectacular cosmic fireworks display.

The picture shows a Herbig-Haro 110, a geyser of gas released from a baby star, as it ricochets from a nearby dust cloud.

Cosmic fireworks: NASA scientists released this image of a geyser of hot gas from a newborn star ricocheting off a dense area of cloud and molecular hydrogen. They have compared the picture to a classic Independence Day fireworks display
