I, throwbot: U.S. Army set to test new lightweight and lobable cyber assistants in Afghanistan

One way to stop soldiers being ambushed during battle is to help them look before they leap.

The best way to do that is to equip them with remote control robots to look around dangerous corners, explore dark tunnels or be first into caves.

Those robots can feed back what they 'see' via cameras, to make sure the armed forces know what type of they are walking into.
