Nephilim Hybrids – Recap of last nights show – Chris Ward « L.A. Marzulli’s Blog

Nephilim Hybrids – Recap of last nights show – Chris Ward « L.A. Marzulli’s Blog: "My guest last night on Acceleration Radio was Pastor and exorcist, Chris Ward. We spent the fist hour talking shop about the UFO phenomena. However, the second hour was over the top.

Ward believes, like I do, that there are Nephilim hybrids that are on the earth. In other words the fallen angels are doing what they did way back in Genesis 6, they are created hybrids. As in the days of Noah so shall it be when the son of man returns.

Ward takes it a step further and proclaims that the Nephilim hybrids can be saved. I’m still doing my homework on this so I’m not going to rush to judgement. The danger that I see is that the hybrid program blurs the line between what is human and what is not. This is what the Transhumanism movement is all about. Calling Tom Horn, where are you when we need you!"

Iran Placing Medium-Range Missiles in Venezuela; Can Reach the U.S. :: Hudson New York: "Iran is planning to place medium-range missiles on Venezuelan soil, based on western information sources[1], according to an article in the German daily, Die Welt, of November 25, 2010. According to the article, an agreement between the two countries was signed during the last visit o Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to Tehran on October19, 2010. The previously undisclosed contract provides for the establishment of a jointly operated military base in Venezuela, and the joint development of ground-to-ground missiles.

At a moment when NATO members found an agreement, in the recent Lisbon summit (19-20 November 2010), to develop a Missile Defence capability to protect NATO's populations and territories in Europe against ballistic missile attacks from the East (namely, Iran), Iran's counter-move consists in establishing a strategic base in the South American continent - in the United States's soft underbelly."

U.S. Military Spending Is Out Of Control: 12 Facts That Show That We Cannot Afford To Be The Police Of The World

U.S. Military Spending Is Out Of Control: 12 Facts That Show That We Cannot Afford To Be The Police Of The World: "Today, the United States has become the police of the world. The U.S. military has a total of over 700 military bases in 130 countries around the world. Total military spending by the U.S. government is nearly equal to the combined military spending of the rest of the globe. Meanwhile, the federal government is literally drowning in debt. So if we make some significant cuts to military spending will we fix the national debt problem? Of course not. In fact, it would only put a small dent in it. But at least it would help. The truth is that we cannot afford to be the police of the world and the Pentagon wastes so much money that it is almost incomprehensible. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld once publicly admitted that the Pentagon lost track of 2.3 trillion dollars and cannot tell us how it was spent. Just imagine how your boss would react if you lost track of just 2.3 thousand dollars. So why wasn't there more of an uproar about losing track of 2.3 trillion dollars? Have we become so accustomed to military waste that we don't even care anymore?"

Young Teen Murdered for Turning from Islam to Christianity

Mission Network News: "Somalia (MNN) ― A 17-year-old girl was shot to death in Somalia for her faith in Christ, says Voice of the Martyrs, Canada.

Nurta Mohamed Farah was shot in the chest and the head by suspected family members as an 'honor killing.'

According to Compass Direct News, when Farah's parents found out last May that she had turned from Islam to Christianity, they offered her forgiveness if she'd denounce her new faith. When Farah refused, her parents believed her to be crazy. They gave her medication and made her sit through biweekly readings of the Q'uran, hoping that the combination would cure her 'mental illness.' When it was clear that Farah's heart would remain with Christ, her parents began to torture her.

Farah was reportedly shackled to a tree by day and kept in a dark room at night. Eventually the young girl was able to escape and fled to live with relatives.

This new home did not prove to be a safe haven for long. Just 200 meters from the place Farah was staying, two unidentified men shot her to death. Sources strongly suspect the men were either relatives themselves or working for them."

Genetics, DNA, screening: Researchers find way to assemble full genome of fetus - latimes.com: "Researchers have found a way to collect and decode the complete DNA sequence of a fetus by piecing it together using a sample of its mother's blood.

The discovery, reported online Wednesday in the journal Science Translational Medicine, could present a safer alternative to the invasive procedures currently used to detect genetic problems in fetuses, experts said. Amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling carry a small but real risk of miscarriage and are generally reserved for cases when the risk of a genetic defect is elevated."

Scientists say on way to solving anti-matter mystery | Reuters

Scientists say on way to solving anti-matter mystery | Reuters: "(Reuters) - European scientists reported on Monday the creation and capture of anti-hydrogen atoms in a novel magnetic trap and said it put them on track to solving one of the great cosmic mysteries -- the make-up of anti-matter.

Anti-matter is of intense interest outside the global scientific community because it has often been cited as a potential source of boundless and almost cost-free energy.

The announcement from CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, came just three weeks after another of the three teams working separately on the problem at the particle research center near Geneva said they had briefly made and caught the elusive atoms for the first time.

'With these alternative methods of producing and eventually studying anti-hydrogen, anti-matter will not be able to hide its properties from us for much longer,' said Yasunori Yamazaki of the team that scored the latest breakthrough.

Anti, or neutral, matter is believed to have been created in the same quantities as conventional matter -- the substance of everything visible in the universe including life on earth -- at the moment of the Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago."

Kazakhstan's president urges scientists to find the elixir of life | World news | The Guardian: "Cleopatra may have bathed in asses' milk to preserve her youth but Nursultan Nazarbayev, the autocratic president of Kazakhstan, wants nothing less than an elixir of life to keep him going.

Not satisfied with 19 years in charge of the gas-rich central Asian state, Nazarbayev urged scientists today to unlock the secret to immortality.

The 70-year-old leader stressed in a speech that a new scientific research institute in the capital Astana should study 'rejuvenation of the organism,' as well as 'the human genome, production of human tissue and creation of gene-based medicines'."

EU to address mysterious collapse of bee colonies | EurActiv

EU to address mysterious collapse of bee colonies | EurActiv: "Pesticides, GM crops to blame?

A 2009 report by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) on bee mortality and bee surveillance in Europe suggests that there are many factors involved in the causes of the decline in the bee population. In its study, the agency considered the following: bee diseases and pests, pesticide poisoning, the impact of genetically-modified crops, and stress linked to changes in nutrition and climatic conditions.

However, the Commission said 'the leading cause remains unknown at this stage' and called for more research to be carried out. It also suggested setting up a programme to monitor bees in the EU to ascertain the precise magnitude of the losses.

While the link between increased bee mortality and the cultivation of GM crops has been widely reported, the Commission underlines that 'no difference has been recorded' between areas where GM crops are extensively cultivated and areas in which they are much less common or prohibited."

Most comets that fly into the inner solar system seem to come from the outer region of the Oort cloud - a region of icy dust and debris left over from the birth of the solar system.

The cloud starts from a point about 93 billion miles from the Sun and stretches for around three light years and contains billions of comets, most of them small and hidden."

Dr Oz: Genetically Modified Foods or GMO Foods & Monsanto’s GMO Seeds | Dr Oz | Doctor Oz Fans: "Dr Oz did a segment called “Dr Oz Investigates Genetically Modified Food,” which is quite a controversial topic. Click here to read the full recap of this Dr Oz Segment: Dr Oz: GMO Foods or Genetically Modified Foods. Doctor Oz said that foods are being genetically changed to grow faster and to resist disease, but when he polled his audience, 80% of them said they would not buy packaged foods with Genetically Modified Organisms or GMO ingredients. My personal observation on this poll result is that, notwithstanding consumer preferences for foods not containing GMO (at least in the studio audience), unless you exclusively buy organic products, you cannot be assured that food you buy for your family will not contain GMO ingredients."

Leaked cables reveal GMO, agrofuel agendas: "The U.S. is targeting African officials to push genetically modified crops on Africa, and promoting agrofuels appears to be a significant item on the State Department’s agenda.

Those facts were revealed in our search of the American cables released by WikiLeaks and have not been reported by the nation’s news media.

The cables confirm the fears of Third World activists reported here on previous occasions. We would simply note that the Pentagon’s recently created military command for Africa — AFRICOM — was created by the now retired Air Force four-star general who retired to become a paid lobbyist for the agrofuel industry."

Quartet of giant planets puzzles astronomers - space - 08 December 2010 - New Scientist

Quartet of giant planets puzzles astronomers - space - 08 December 2010 - New Scientist: "The discovery of a fourth giant world around the star HR 8799 is straining the two leading theories of how planets form.

Planets are thought to coalesce from a dusty disc around a young star. One model, called core accretion, says that giant planets form when the dust gathers into a rocky core, which then draws in gas to form a massive atmosphere. Another, called disc instability, says that these planets collapse suddenly from sections of the disc.

HR 8799's four planets, each five to 13 times Jupiter's mass, are too far apart to be explained easily by either model, say Christian Marois of the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and colleagues."

A Transhumanist Manifesto

A Transhumanist Manifesto:

"Preamble

Intelligence wants to be free but everywhere is in chains. It is imprisoned by biology and its inevitable scarcity.

Biology mandates not only very limited durability, death and poor memory retention, but also limited speed of communication, transportation, learning, interaction and evolution.

Part I: Biology (w)as Destiny

Biology is not the essence of humanity.

Human is a step in evolution, not the culmination.

Existence precedes essence. Human is a process, not an entity. One is not simply born human, but becomes one. That process of becoming is ongoing and thus the meaning of human is re-defined in every one of us."

Artificial 'nano-food' could soon show up at a store near you

Artificial 'nano-food' could soon show up at a store near you: "The scientific community has once again caught food-tampering fever. Recent reports indicate that food scientists are busy developing nanoparticle-modified (NM) food that could one day end up on your dinner plate -- and you may never even know about it. By shifting around nanoparticles, food scientists say that fat-free foods can taste like full-fat foods, and they can be programmed to digest more slowly--two changes that some say may help reverse the obesity epidemic.

But most of this research is going on in secret because of fears over how the public will respond. Like genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), nano-modifying food involves literally changing its molecular properties, which has never been proven safe. So naturally, consumers are likely to reject NM food if given the choice."

Eyeball This: Biometrics That Track The Way You See | Fast Company

Eyeball This: Biometrics That Track The Way You See | Fast Company: "What if you could be recognized by the way your eyes moved? An Israeli company believes that tracking the unique signatures in the movement of your eyeballs could be the most foolproof biometric system ever. What's more, its setup could be used as a lie detector, or a drug and alcohol test.

In ID-U Biometrics' system, the user has to watch a moving object onscreen, while the camera observes the motion of their eyes. Since the way our eyes move is based on a combination of factors --such as anatomy, physiology, behavioral characteristics, eye structure--it's a signature that simply can't be duplicated or forged, according to its developers.

Dr. Daphna Palti-Wasserman, CEO of ID-U Biometrics, says she designed the system by drawing up a wish list for the ultimate identification technology. 'We explored the possible human signals and mechanisms that could deliver our dream biometrics,' she told Fast Company. 'It brought us to the visual system and to the dynamic approach.'"

How to Become Immortal: Upload your Mind

How to Become Immortal: Upload your Mind - Salem-News.Com: "Can brain uploading be achieved within 40 years? Sooner, say some experts.

(CHICAGO) - According to Ian Pearson, a British futurist, death will be a thing of the past by 2050.

Pearson is one of many futurists, cybernetic experts and artificial intelligence researchers whose thoughts are converging on the same basic idea: Why not upload everything that's in the brain—everything that makes a person who they are—into a computer and then download it again into a new body? Doing such a thing would make the individual theoretically immortal.

For such a thing to work, more advancements will be needed in the hardware and the software, and better interfaces will have to be developed between the human brain and the silicon brain.

Yet how to get there from here is not insurmountable.

Can brain uploading be achieved within 40 years?

Sooner, say some experts. What's needed are super fast computers with huge memory capacity. They see that happening before 2020 and that's just 10 years away. If there are unexpected breakthroughs with quantum computers the time line will be shortened considerably."

Military One Step Closer to Battlefield Holograms | Danger Room | Wired.com: "It’s one of those grandiose ideas that gets bandied about by Pentagon scientists and pops up in the press every few years. The “Face of Allah” weapon would beam a massive, lifelike hologram over a battlefield, projecting the image of some deity “to incite fear in soldiers on a battlefield,” according to one researcher.

We last checked in on holographic weapons research two years ago, when the University of New Hampshire was working on some Pentagon-funded projects. Since then, another university team has turned holograms into a reality — but not as tools of war. Not yet, at least.

Optical scientist Nasser Peyghambarian and his teammates at the University of Arizona have demonstrated what The New York Times calls “actual moving holograms that are filmed in one spot and then projected and viewed in another spot.” The Times likens the holograms to the tiny image of Princess Leia that R2D2 showed Luke Skywalker in the beginning of Star Wars, only “a lot more haltingly, as the display changes only every two seconds.”"

Hills alive with UFOs | The Daily Telegraph: "Adam Cainero believes he captured a photograph of an alien spacecraft hovering above an escarpment near Majors Creek, in the Southern Tablelands near Braidwood.

After an unsuccessful weekend fossicking for gold Mr Cainero and a friend were making the long trip home when he stopped to take a snap of the steep mountain they had driven down.

When he got home, Mr Cainero said he realised he had found gold of another kind after all.

'I just took a picture of the mountain range and the sun was in my eyes so I just kind of pointed and shot,' Mr Cainero said. 'Then we looked at the picture - we were, like, no way.'

With its shape and its position in the sky, Mr Cainero said he immediately knew the black object was a UFO."

The robot, named BigDog, is funded by DARPA, the US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency. They're not very well known, but over the years they've funded some incredible research - from android canines to artificial arms to giant airships

DARPA originally grew out of the Cold War space race, and it isn't only eccentric, it's also secretive

But a little while ago, technology and science journalist, Michael Belfiore managed to convince the Agency's then Director, a man named Tony Tether, to let him in the door for a quick look.

What he learnt is now the basis of a book entitled The Department of Mad Scientists: How DARPA is remaking our world from the internet to artificial limbs."

Giant fossil bird found on 'hobbit' island of Flores

BBC - Earth News - Giant fossil bird found on 'hobbit' island of Flores: "A giant marabou stork has been discovered on an island once home to human-like 'hobbits'.

Fossils of the bird were discovered on the Indonesian island of Flores, a place previously famed for the discovery of Homo floresiensis, a small hominin species closely related to modern humans.

The stork may have been capable of hunting and eating juvenile members of this hominin species, say researchers who made the discovery, though there is no direct evidence the birds did so.

The finding, reported in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, also helps explain how prehistoric wildlife adapted to living on islands."

Mum’s poltergeist fears - News - Wigan Today: "A YOUNG mum is calling in an exorcist amid fears she is sharing her new home with a poltergeist.

Student midwife Holly Taylor and her two-year-old daughter Willow will no longer sleep at the apartment in Pemberton town centre after a terrifying series of events.

And few people the 22-year-old has told are doubting her because many have witnessed ghostly goings-on too.

The building stands on the site of the former Pemberton Police Station in Ormskirk Road, which had a reputation for being haunted.

An officer who used to work there today confirmed the station was notorious for unexplained footsteps and doors banging, and that the culprit was believed to be the ghost of an inspector who hanged himself in a cell.

In the last four months Holly has experienced:

Plates flying off the kitchen work surface and smashing on the floor;

Ornaments and other objects being moved around or knocked over while she is out;

Footsteps and the front door being opened despite her having the only key;

All the flat’s lights being switched back on after she has gone to bed;

The electric smoke alarm going off randomly;

Drawers in Willow’s bedroom being opened and emptied while the tot sleeps."

"Wonders in the Sky": Why we've always been obsessed with UFOs - Nonfiction - Salon.com

"Wonders in the Sky": Why we've always been obsessed with UFOs - Nonfiction - Salon.com: "UFO skeptics take note: Strange flying objects have been haunting our planet for much longer than many people think. Over 3,000 years ago, in the Egyptian Nile Valley, a man reported looking into the sky to see a 'shining disk' descend and tell him to build a new city. On Sept. 11, 1787, in Edinburgh, Scotland, a group of people reported, 'a fiery globe larger than the sun' moving eastward in a horizontal direction and dipping below the horizon before exploding behind a cloud. Eight years later, in the Quangxi province of China, a 'large star' rose and fell three times, followed by another star that 'crashed in a village.'

According to Jacques Vallee, the French-born astronomer and co-author (with Chris Aubeck) of the hypnotic new book 'Wonders in the Sky: Unexplained Aerial Objects from Antiquity to Modern Times,' these stories are important not only because they show that flying things have been capturing our imagination for centuries, but because of what they say about our most cherished beliefs and deepest fears."

’Cone’ of light UFO appears over Sandia Mountains - National ufo | Examiner.com: "An Albuquerque, NM, witness reports watching a 'bright, circular white light above the horizon of the Sandia Mountains' about 4 a.m. on December 5, 2010, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness is familiar with two lights that should be on the mountain - a crest light and a tram light - but this light was centered between them in the sky.

'I looked closely at the white light and observed that it seemed to flicker somewhat along the edges and 'wobble' side to side and up and down, but it certainly was not getting any closer to my location,' the witness stated.

Then the light just disappeared from view.

But a few minutes later, as the witness observed the sky, the light reappeared - but this time the witness reports that the light looked like a cone."

A glimpse of the future - physicsworld.com

A glimpse of the future - physicsworld.com: "As they gaze back in time, their giant telescopes collecting light that has travelled from distant stars and galaxies for millions or even billions of years, astronomers can sometimes seem fixated with the past. Chris Impey is different. Although the University of Arizona astronomer acknowledges that 'science mostly answers the question of how things got the way they are', in his latest book he is chiefly interested in the future. After all, he concedes, if we focus only on the past, 'our job is only half done, as every good story needs an ending'.

This is the premise of How It Ends, and a compelling premise it is, too – after all, we are all fundamentally curious about how things end. In addition to its focus on the future, the book is also unusual in its field of study; Impey considers not just the ultimate fate of stars and galaxies, but also of everything there is, from the smallest earthbound microbes to the entire universe. Hence the scope of the book is vast, criss-crossing disciplines such as biology, biochemistry, geology, physics, astronomy and cosmology."

Taking Down America: Four Scenarios for the End of the American Century by 2025 « American Pendulum

Taking Down America: Four Scenarios for the End of the American Century by 2025 « American Pendulum: "The Decline and Fall of the American Empire

By Alfred W. McCoy / Tom Dispatch — “Even if future events prove duller than these four scenarios suggest, every significant trend points toward a far more striking decline in American global power by 2025 than anything Washington now seems to be envisioning.”…… ”If America’s decline is in fact on a 22-year trajectory from 2003 to 2025, then we have already frittered away most of the first decade of that decline with wars that distracted us from long-term problems and, like water tossed onto desert sands, wasted trillions of desperately needed dollars. “

A soft landing for America 40 years from now? Don’t bet on it. The demise of the United States as the global superpower could come far more quickly than anyone imagines. If Washington is dreaming of 2040 or 2050 as the end of the American Century, a more realistic assessment of domestic and global trends suggests that in 2025, just 15 years from now, it could all be over except for the shouting."

Pakistan cleric offers reward for killing Christian woman

Pakistan cleric offers reward for killing Christian woman: "PESHAWAR, Pakistan - A hardline cleric in northwest Pakistan on Friday offered a reward of $6,000 to anyone who kills a Christian mother sentenced to death for insulting the Prophet Mohammed.

Maulana Yousuf Qureshi issued the call in Peshawar, the capital of northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, at a rally against moves to pardon the woman.

Asia Bibi, a mother of five, was sentenced on November 8 to death by hanging, under controversial blasphemy laws that human rights activists say encourage Islamist extremism.

The government attempted to pardon Bibi after an international outcry over the case, but a Pakistani court on Monday prevented it from granting her a swift pardon.

'We demand that the government should hang her to death under the law. If it does not do so, we will offer a reward of 500,000 rupees ($6,000) to anyone killing her,' Qureshi said."

A look at America's deadliest space weapons

Helium - Where Knowledge Rules: "The X-37B and 'Rods from God'

After a mission that lasted 7 months, the USAF secret X-37B mini-space shuttle returned during early December 2010. More missions are scheduled. The craft, a robotic Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) is designed to be a 'launch on demand' space capable platform that could do all kinds of work for the military. It has the advantages of speed, stealth and surprise.

Some insiders in the aerospace industry claim that the OTV successfully tested a weapons system called the 'Rods from God.' Canadian biotech company pushes USDA to approve GMO apples

Canadian biotech company pushes USDA to approve GMO apples: "(NaturalNews) Okanagan Specialty Fruits (OSF), a British Columbian biotechnology company, is petitioning the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to approve a genetically-modified (GM) variety of apple that the company says does not brown after being sliced. The company licensed the technology from Australian researchers who have already used it in potatoes to eliminate the browning enzyme. The current request marks the first time a company has sought approval for GM apples.

Though the company says the technology will lower the cost of producing sliced apple products like the ones now sold at many grocers and fast-food restaurants, it has not been determined that the GM apples are actually safe for human consumption, even though Neal Carter, president of OSF, insists they are safe for humans and the environment.

R. Andre Bell, a spokesman from the USDA, has indicated that the agency will have to review the proposal and make a proper judgment. Those opposed to the request cite cross-contamination problems and unknown effects in humans and the environment as several reasons among many for the petition to be rejected."

Could X particle solve two puzzles?

Cosmic Log - Could X particle solve two puzzles?: "Alan Boyle writes:Can one particle explain both dark matter and the mysterious origins of matter and antimatter? Some physicists think so. They're calling the as-yet-only-theoretical object the 'X particle.'

Physicists from Canada's TRIUMF particle-physics facility, the University of British Columbia and Brookhaven National Laboratory laid out their ideas on the X particle in a paper published last month by Physical Review Letters -- and since then, the ideas have been picked up by PhysicsWorld magazine as well as Discovery News. (You can read a full draft of the paper on the arxiv.org website.)

The concept addresses two of the deep mysteries in modern physics:

Dark matter: Observations of distant galaxies and galaxy clusters suggest that the matter we can see accounts for about a fifth of their gravitational mass. The other four-fifths is thought to exist in the form of exotic matter than can be detected only by its gravitational effect. So what is that stuff?

Matter vs. antimatter: Theory dictates that equal amounts of matter and antimatter must have existed at the beginning of the universe -- and yet, we see lots of matter and virtually no antimatter in the universe today. What happened to the antimatter, and why did matter win out?"

Egyptian Archaeologist Admits That Pyramids Contain UFO Technology

Egyptian Archaeologist Admits That Pyramids Contain UFO Technology: "In a shock statement, head of the Cairo University Archaeology Department, Dr Ala Shaheen has told an audience that there might be truth to the theory that aliens helped the ancient Egyptians build the oldest of pyramids, the Pyramids of Giza. On being further questioned by Mr Marek Novak, a delegate from Poland as to whether the pyramid might still contain alien technology or even a UFO with its structure, Dr Shaheen, was vague and replied “I can not confirm or deny this, but there is something inside the pyramid that is “not of this world”. Delegates to the conference on ancient Egyptian architecture were left shocked, however Dr Shaheen has refused to comment further or elaborate on his UFO and alien related statements."

Wave goodbye to Internet freedom - Washington Times

EDITORIAL: Wave goodbye to Internet freedom - Washington Times: "The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is poised to add the Internet to its portfolio of regulated industries. The agency's chairman, Julius Genachowski, announced Wednesday that he circulated draft rules he says will 'preserve the freedom and openness of the Internet.' No statement could better reflect the gulf between the rhetoric and the reality of Obama administration policies.

With a straight face, Mr. Genachowski suggested that government red tape will increase the 'freedom' of online services that have flourished because bureaucratic busybodies have been blocked from tinkering with the Web. Ordinarily, it would be appropriate at this point to supply an example from the proposed regulations illustrating the problem. Mr. Genachowski's draft document has over 550 footnotes and is stamped 'non-public, for internal use only' to ensure nobody outside the agency sees it until the rules are approved in a scheduled Dec. 21 vote. So much for 'openness.'"

Vatican scientists see “moral imperative” in GMO

Vatican scientists see “moral imperative” in GMO: "(3 December 2010) In a statement released at the end of November 2010, forty international scientists including seven Vatican advisors have called for the relaxation of “excessive, unscientific regulations” applied to genetically modified (GM) crops. The foundation of the statement lies in a week-long closed meeting held in May 2009 at the Vatican.

The scientists were brought together by Ingo Potrykus, one of the 80 members of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. The retired Professor of Plant Sciences at the Federal Institute of Technology (FIT) in Zurich developed what is known as ‘golden rice’, a bioengineered grain with enhanced levels of vitamin A to combat the childhood blindness that poses a problem in some developing countries in Asia."

UFO disclosure could involve dimension we call 'Heaven'

American Chronicle | UFO disclosure could involve dimension we call 'Heaven': "(This article originally appeared on the Transcendent TV & Media site.)

As scientific theories, popular discussion and significant indications about the possibility of other dimensions in our universe become more accepted, many people point out that unidentified flying objects (UFOs) could be several different kinds of phenomena possibly related to multiple dimensions.

As we know, many UFO sightings involve stars, weather phenomena, conventional aircraft and probably advanced human military aircraft-spacecraft.

However, some of these flying objects may very well be extraterrestrial spacecraft, some type of vehicles or other anomalous phenomena.

When certain objects like this are repeatedly tracked on radar and observed by very reliable witnesses (sometimes multiple witnesses), it seems reasonable to accept this possibility.

In a 'multiverse' that we might be living in, there are many possibilities to wonder about. Could some UFOs come from other natural dimensions? Such other dimensions could be hidden from us though elements of physics and Nature that we do not fully understand."

Cancun talks start with a call to the gods

Post Carbon - Cancun talks start with a call to the gods: "Cancun talks start with a call to the gods
By Juliet Eilperin

With United Nations climate negotiators facing an uphill battle to advance their goal of reducing emissions linked to global warming, it's no surprise that the woman steering the talks appealed to a Mayan goddess Monday.

Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, invoked the ancient jaguar goddess Ixchel in her opening statement to delegates gathered in Cancun, Mexico, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also 'the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving. May she inspire you -- because today, you are gathered in Cancun to weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools.'"

Could robots take over the world? - St. Petersburg Times

Could robots take over the world? - St. Petersburg Times: "It feels a bit like the End Times these days, what with assault rifles flying off the shelves and the markets swinging and the honeybees dying and the national deficit growing and the polar ice caps melting and wars raging and the missionaries from the panhandle cults filling our mailboxes with doomsday lit. The beast may be coming, and we wonder if we'll recognize it.

And all this at a time when we're weak. We're complacent. Few of us have ever gone hungry. Wars play out too far away for us to hear any actual gunfire. Hardly anyone really works anymore, except maybe chimney sweeps (seasonal) and plumbers. We have mastered the art of pretending to work, of minimizing windows when we hear the swoosh of footsteps outside the cubicle.

That's why the coming robot takeover is so scary.

• • •

A peek into the future:

Within the next few years, we predict there will be a catastrophic incident brought about by a computer system making a decision independent of human oversight.

Science fiction?

The prediction comes in a new book, Moral Machines: Teaching Robots Right from Wrong, by Wendell Wallach, a consultant and writer in Yale's Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics, and Colin Allen, professor of cognitive science and history and philosophy of science at Indiana University."

Special Report: A day without genetically altered orange juice | Reuters

Special Report: A day without genetically altered orange juice | Reuters: "(Reuters) - For many Americans, few things seem more wholesome than a glass of fresh-squeezed Florida orange juice, the original 'natural food.' As former beauty queen Anita Bryant chirped more than four decades ago, in what remains a fondly remembered tagline: 'A day without orange juice is like a day without sunshine.'

She wasn't talking about green oranges or genetically altered ones, but that was then.

We live in a 'world of nasty bacteria now,' says Calvin Arnold, a scientist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. An insect-borne bacterial disease that is ravaging Florida's citrus crop means the juice squeezed from the Sunshine State's fruit may soon come from trees that have had their genetic makeup modified.

The blight, commonly known as 'greening,' is the world's most destructive citrus disease.

GMO juice would likely be reviled by critics of the biotech industry as 'Frankenfood.' But Arnold and other experts say there simply may be no other choice in the battle against greening."

UFOs Predicted Over Moscow and London in January 2011

Exopolitics Comment 91: "Stanley Fulham, a retired NORAD officer, has been given further predictions concerning the appearance of extraterrestrial spacecraft/UFOs over major world cities. In an alleged communication with a group of extraterrestrials called the “Transcendors” he was recently told that extraterrestrial vehicles will first appear in early January 2011 over Moscow and then one week later over London. Fulham’s latest set of predictions are noteworthy since he successfully predicted UFOs over New York City on October 13, 2010. Shortly after the UFOs appeared, the FAA Westbury radar facility responsible for three major airports in New York City was evacuated for an hour leading to flight delays/cancellations at La Guardia, Newark and JFK airports. According to a reliable source, similar radar disruptions occurred at a major Chinese airport in the region of Hangzhou in July 2010 after UFOs appeared, leading once again to flights being delayed/cancelled for an hour. If UFOs do appear over Moscow and/or London in early January 2010, any flight disruptions at nearby airports will help confirm whether or not Fulham’s predictions are accurate."

Dolly the sheep: Alive and well

Short Sharp Science: Dolly the sheep: Alive and well: "Dolly the sheep is alive and well in the form of four clones - genetically identical copies - which have been living in the UK on Nottingham University land for over three years.

Keith Campbell, professor of animal development at the university, cloned the sheep from the same mammary gland tissue sample he used to clone the original Dolly 14 years ago. He announced the clones' existence at recent European Parliament debate on cloning and animal welfare.

The first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell, Dolly made headlines around the world when she was born at the Roslin Institute near Edinburgh, UK, on 5 July 1996.

Dolly bred naturally twice, giving birth to Bonnie in April 1998 and three more lambs in 1999. She was put down at the age of six when she developed arthritis and lung disease. Her death sparked debate about the ethics of cloning.

'Dolly is alive and well. Genetically these are Dolly,' Campbell told the Daily Mail."

Secret military mini-shuttle headed back to Earth | Reuters: "(Reuters) - A miniature robotic space shuttle launched from Cape Canaveral in April has completed a nine-month classified mission for the military and will be headed for a landing as early as Friday, Air Force officials said on Tuesday.

The vehicle, known as the Orbital Test Vehicle or X-37B, is expected to land at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California between Friday and Monday, depending on weather and technical considerations, the Air Force said in a statement.

The project, started by NASA in the late 1990s and later adopted by the military, is intended to test technologies for a next-generation space shuttle."

'Trillions' of Earths orbit red stars in older galaxies

BBC News - 'Trillions' of Earths orbit red stars in older galaxies: "Astronomers say the Universe may contain three times the number of stars as is currently thought.

Their assessment is based on new observations showing other galaxies may have very different structures to our Milky Way galaxy.

The researchers tell the journal Nature that more stars probably means many more planets as well - perhaps 'trillions' of Earth-like worlds.

The Yale University-led study used the Keck telescope in Hawaii.

There are possibly trillions of Earths orbiting these stars”

Professor Pieter Van Dokkum

It found that galaxies older than ours contain 20 times more red dwarf stars than more recent ones.

Red dwarfs are smaller and dimmer than our own Sun; it is only recently that telescopes have been powerful enough to detect them."

Big Bang Poured Out "Liquid" Universe, Atom Smasher Hints

Big Bang Poured Out "Liquid" Universe, Atom Smasher Hints: "In the immediate aftermath of the big bang, the universe behaved like a very dense, superhot liquid, according to data from the most powerful atom-smashing experiment yet performed.

Physicists recently re-created the conditions of the big bang using the ALICE detector in the Large Hadron Collider (pictures) near Geneva, Switzerland. The scientists smashed together lead ions—atoms of lead that had been stripped of their electrons—at nearly the speed of light.

The experiment successfully created a tiny 'subatomic volume' of a primordial state of matter known as a quark-gluon plasma. This exotic substance is thought to have existed only briefly in the early universe.

The plasma is made of subatomic particles called quarks and gluons. Quarks are the elementary building blocks of positively charged protons and neutral neutrons, which make up the cores of atoms. Gluons are particles that 'glue' quarks together using what's called the strong force.

In normal matter, quarks and gluons exist as tightly bound bundles."

Giant Stealth Planet May Explain Rain of Comets from Solar System's Edge

SPACE.com -- Giant Stealth Planet May Explain Rain of Comets from Solar System's Edge: "Our sun may have a companion that disturbs comets from the edge of the solar system — a giant planet with up to four times the mass of Jupiter, researchers suggest.

A NASA space telescope launched last year may soon detect such a stealth companion to our sun, if it actually exists, in the distant icy realm of the comet-birthing Oort cloud, which surrounds our solar system with billions of icy objects.

The potential jumbo Jupiter would likely be a world so frigid it is difficult to spot, researchers said. It could be found up to 30,000 astronomical units from the sun. One AU is the distance between the Earth and the sun, about 93 million miles (150 million km)"

Ben Goertzel Interviews Max More on the Future of Transhumanism and the Optimization of Disorder | h+ Magazine: "Among the many wonderful speakers slated for the Humanity+ @ CalTech conference this weekend (Dec 4/5), one of the most exciting is Max More -- who, though still relatively young, is as close to the “father of transhumanism” as one can get.

Way back in 1988, before the future was fashionable, Max co-founded the original transhumanist magazine, Extropy: The Journal of Transhumanist Thought. In the early 90s he founded Extropy Institute, organized five Extro conferences—the first explicitly transhumanist conferences, and founded the English cryonics organization Alcor-UK (originally Mizar).
But his greatest achievements are perhaps on the intellectual rather than organizational side. Max has authored a host of seminal transhumanist essays, forming a key part of the foundation of modern transhumanist thougt, including “Transhumanism: Toward a Futurist Philosophy” (1990), “The Principles of Extropy”, “A Letter to Mother Nature: Amendments to the Human Constitution” (1999), “Technological Self-Transformation: Expanding Personal Extropy” (1993), “Dynamic Optimism: An Extropian Cognitive-Emotional Virtue” (1992), and more recent papers such as “True Transhumanism”"

NASA-Funded Research Discovers Life Built With Toxic Chemical

NASA - NASA-Funded Research Discovers Life Built With Toxic Chemical: "NASA-funded astrobiology research has changed the fundamental knowledge about what comprises all known life on Earth.

Researchers conducting tests in the harsh environment of Mono Lake in California have discovered the first known microorganism on Earth able to thrive and reproduce using the toxic chemical arsenic. The microorganism substitutes arsenic for phosphorus in its cell components.

'The definition of life has just expanded,' said Ed Weiler, NASA's associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at the agency's Headquarters in Washington. 'As we pursue our efforts to seek signs of life in the solar system, we have to think more broadly, more diversely and consider life as we do not know it.'"

Cloned Beef

Science-Based Medicine » Cloned Beef: "The controversy over the human consumption of meat and dairy products from cloned cows continues. The UK Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes, after reviewing the evidence, concluded that there was no substantial difference between meat and dairy from cloned cows compared to conventional cows. However, food products from cloned animals and their offspring remain banned in Europe.

Use of offspring of cloned cows, sheep and pigs are legal in the US, South America, and Asia. Australia is likely to follow suit in a year or two. The European Union (EU) has an effective ban at the moment, but the policy is under review. The UK is also negotiating with the EU regarding the use of clones.

There is not much of a theoretical reason to suspect that cloned animals would present a health risk. The primary concern is that something unanticipated might have occurred during the cloning process, causing the animal to be genetically or developmentally abnormal. However, if the cloning process works properly this should not happen. Further, if mutations do occur, but the animal lives, it is likely that any changes do not represent a risk to humans who consume the meat or dairy from such clones."

US court orders GMO beets destroyed - Yahoo! News: "WASHINGTON (AFP) – A federal judge has ordered what is believed to be the first-ever destruction of a genetically modified crop in the United States, saying that the altered sugar beets were planted illegally.

US District Judge Jeffrey White in California granted a preliminary injunction Tuesday sought by the Center for Food Safety and other groups, which contended that the Monsanto-produced sugar beet crops were planted without proper environmental review.

He delayed implementation of the order until December 7 to allow time for an appeal.

White said in his ruling that 'there is a significant risk that the plantings pursuant to the permits will cause environmental harm.'

He added that despite efforts to prevent contamination or cross-pollination of crops, there was no guarantee that the GMO crops would not affect other plants."

Federal Reserve's 'astounding' report: We loaned banks trillions - CSMonitor.com

Federal Reserve's 'astounding' report: We loaned banks trillions - CSMonitor.com: "The Federal Reserve has lifted its veil of secrecy regarding special lending programs during the financial crisis, responding to a mandate from Congress by revealing the specifics of transactions with firms like Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.

Critics of the Federal Reserve are poring over the data, seeking red flags regarding potential improprieties. And Congress has asked its Government Accountability Office to sift through the numbers and offer its own analysis.

At the same time, it's possible that the release of details will end up largely vindicating the Fed for the massive financial support that it gave the economy at a time of severe stress. The emergency loans, in the view of many finance experts, helped to avert a much deeper economic slump. And those loans have now been largely paid back without losses to the central bank."

Scientists Find 200 Sextillion More Stars in the Sky

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/12/01/scientists-sextillion-stars/The night sky may be a lot starrier than we thought.A study suggests the universe could have triple the number of stars scientists previously calculated. For those of you counting at home, the new estimate is 300,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. That's 300 sextillion. The study questions a key assumption that astronomers often use: that most galaxies have the same properties as our Milky Way. And that's creating a bit of a stink among astronomers who want a more orderly cosmos.

The Danger of a Global Double Dip Recession Is Real - US News and World Report

The Danger of a Global Double Dip Recession Is Real - US News and World Report: "The modern world has for centuries been dominated economically, intellectually, and physically by the civilization that arose in Western Europe in the wake of the Renaissance and Reformation and spread across the Atlantic.

Will that one day be seen as a passing phenomenon doomed to ascend ever upward and then slowly fizzle out like a firework?

It is nearly a century since that gloomy German mathematician and philosopher Oswald Spengler published his 1918 classic The Decline of the West. His arguments were complex, but basically he suggested that the future of the West was not as limitless as his peers imagined after the ghastly World War I. His thesis was that civilizations had an underlying trajectory, an organic rise and fall; his metaphor was to compare the stages of this process to the stages of our seasons—but seasons of many centuries. In the 19th century we were, he suggested, in the winter of the West, witnessing the triumph of materialism, socialism, and money and that the era of individualism, liberty, and humanitarianism was nearing its end."

Ruckus Smart Antennas May Be Key to Nationwide Wi-Fi | Epicenter | Wired.com: "I’m standing in the middle of the some of the most congested airwaves on Earth, and I’m watching Russell Crowe in 1080p like I just don’t care.

If you opened your laptop to log on to the net here, you’d find a list of 160 different Wi-Fi access points to choose from. Normally, mere mortals would have a hard time even checking their e-mail in that cacophony.

But I’m walking away from the conference-room router I’m locked onto, past Ruckus Wireless’s finance and administration cubicles toward the corner office of CEO Selina Lo. I forge on, past the marketing department, the product management team and the guy in the engineering department who has decorated his cube with successive generations of Ruckus’ Wi-Fi router motherboards.

Crowe keeps fighting without a jitter.

It’s not until I’m nearly 200 feet away, approaching the radiation-proof Faraday cages used for testing Ruckus’ newest Wi-Fi antenna designs, that Crowe falters.

I’m toting a standard 15-inch laptop and watching Crowe seeking bloody Gladiator vengeance. It’s an HD video encoded in MPEG-2 — a luxurious experience that requires a steady 19 Mbps pipe (give or take) to play without stuttering."

Ray Kurzweil's Slippery Futurism

IEEE Spectrum: Ray Kurzweil's Slippery Futurism: "Don't panic if you look for your computer today and can't find it. We have it on the authority of technology maven Ray Kurzweil that this year computers will have vanished because of miniaturization. As he said at the TED conference in February 2005:

By 2010 computers will disappear. They'll be so small, they'll be embedded in our clothing, in our environment. Images will be written directly to our retina, providing full-immersion virtual reality, augmented real reality. We'll be interacting with virtual personalities.

If you have a different impression of the world today, Kurzweil would want you to know that he is technically correct. If the rest of the world fails to think that's enough, the rest of the world is wrong.

Of course, Kurzweil did not mean to say that all computers would actually disappear. Rather, embedded microprocessors would allow many of the functions once uniquely served by computers to disseminate to phones, tablet computers, and even cars, clothes, and key chains. And in that sense, 2010 might indeed be seen as a ringing vindication of Kurzweil's prophecy, because smartphones and iPads are everywhere."

BBC News - Ball lightning 'may explain UFOs'

BBC News - Ball lightning 'may explain UFOs': "Some UFO sightings could be explained by ball lightning and other atmospheric phenomena, claims Australian astrophysicist Stephen Hughes.

The scientist has made a detailed study of an unusual event in 2006 when large meteors were observed over Brisbane.

Their appearance occurred at the same time as a brilliant green object was seen to roll over nearby mountains.

Dr Hughes has put forward a theory linking the object - presumed to be ball lighting - to the fireballs.

His idea is that one of the fireballs may have momentarily triggered an electrical connection between the upper atmosphere and the ground, providing energy for the ball lightning to appear above the hills."

'Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe,' NASA explains in its advisory. And that's about as much as the space agency is saying about the discovery right now. However, the advisory includes a list of the speakers for the briefing. That's what led to the online guessing game.
Among those speakers is Felisa Wolfe-Simon, a researcher at the U.S. Geological Survey who says she's concentrating on 'arsenic biogeochemistry, cyanobacteria, novel uses for as yet undescribed metalloenzymes and of course, arsenic-based life!'"
