Futuristic cooktop heats pots and pans wherever you place them on its surface

To look at it you'd think it was a smart new iPad.

But actually, its an incredibly clever induction hob which may revolutionise the way we cook.

The futuristic looking hob - called Thermador Freedom - lets you place pots and pans anywhere on the cooktop.

Modern: The Thermador Freedom will heat pots and pans wherever you place them on the cooktop

It then detects the pans sitting on it and beams its magnetic field at their metal bodies.

This goes on to create a current in the pan which heats its contents.
